Karin Ashley Fine Art

Happiness by Chance

Karin's version of horse hair raku combines the traditional Navajo technique with heavy Japanese influence and elements of nature. Each piece is thrown by hand. There is not slip casting or mass production, which ensures that each piece is unique, not just in finish, but also in body style.

About the artist

As an artist, Karin Ashley is inspired by the natural world and the life within it. Karin studied ceramic arts under the supervision of Richard White at Saddleback College before transferring to the Laguna College of Art + Design. In 2014, Karin graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. Karin’s work is predominately equestrian based and being that she is a horse owner and dressage rider, she brings a unique understanding to the subject. Currently, Karin’s work is collected across the nation with works also being held in Japan, Canada, Thailand, England, and Australia.

Personalized & Memorial Pottery

If you would like to have your favorite equine immortalized in a beautiful piece of art, or have a special tribute piece created in their memory, Karin would be honored to help! The horse hair raku she creates can easily be customized with your horse's hair and the process uses a relatively small amount of hair. Customized works are in the form of a vase, urn or pendant.
